Cell Biology Unit Review

Tomorrow is the final exam for this unit. If you have not started studying, complete the quiz found at the link below to get a good idea about what you should focus on.

http://www.quizrevolution.com/ch/a170449/go

If you have been studying, take to the quiz to make sure that you are prepared.

In this activity you do not have to provide a response but I encourage you to use the comment section to ask your classmates questions and to clear up anything you are having trouble with. Those that do not have questions should note that explaining concepts to others helps you understand them better.

I will be reading and responding to any questions/comments between 5:00 and 10:00 pm.

Good luck with your studying!!

Cellular Respiration/Photosynthesis Quizlet Activity

Today you will be studying the main components of cellular respiration and photosynthesis by completing a Quizlet activity. The flashcards should be displayed below, but if you are unable to see it, click the following link:

http://quizlet.com/16477151/photosynthesis-cellular-respiration-flash-cards/

First, go through  each flashcard and study the information presented in each card.
Then, choose a study mode from the drop-down menu in the bottome right (if you clicked on the link, the study modes will be seen below the flashcard set) and complete the activity.
You are required to do two different activities.

After you have finished, return here and post a response in the comment section. Your response needs to include the following;

- Which study modes did you use and how did each help (or not help) you memorize the information?
-  What could be done to improve this activity or the activity done in class? (one suggestion for either is sufficient)

You must also respond to at least two of your classmates by stating how you agree or disagree with their response.

Protein Synthesis Quizlet Activity

After completing the webercise over the weekend, you now should have a good idea about how a cell makes, recycle, and transports its proteins.

In this activity, you will be creating flashcards that you can use later to study for the final exam. Click on the following link, register for a free account, and start creating your flashcards:

http://quizlet.com/

Your set of flashcards must include at least ten terms or facts that were covered in lecture or during the webercise activity.
Once you are finished, copy the link to your flashcards and post it in the comments section along with a brief response to this activity.

Your response must include the following:

- What was your experience with Quizlet?
- Was this the first time you used this website?
- Did you find it easy or difficult?

You must also provide a response to two of your classmates. Click on their link and then give two comments or suggestions on their flashcard set. Use these comments to make your flashcards more effective for studying.

Lecture #1 Quiz

Now that you have learned the basics of cell structure and function from the first lecture, it is time to test what knowledge you retained. Go to the following link to take the 12-question quiz:

http://www.quizrevolution.com/ch/a170443/go

You have 12 minutes to complete each attempt and you have a total of three attempts. You will receive a score but it will only be used to assess how well students understood the information.

After you have finished the quiz, return here and post a response in the comment section. Your response needs to include the following:

- Did you do better or worse than anticipated?
- Were there any questions that  seemed unfair or confusing?
- What could be done to improve the quiz or class lecture? (one suggestion for either is sufficient)

You must also respond to at least two of your classmates by stating how you agree or disagree with their response.

Use the comment section of this blog post to help each other with the questions that you got wrong or did not understand. I will address all suggestions and questions during tomorrow's class period.
